These NEW HD rear bearing housings are made from AISI 4145 alloy steel, which is much stronger than the stock cast steel of the original parts. They have about 20% more material around the bearing to help prevent the wallowing out of the bore, which is a common occurance with the stock parts. The new housings also feature greater material thickness around critical areas of the housing and improved design for bearing removal and tool access.
